Gravel Driveway Installation & Repair in Princeton, Illinois
Most gravel drives fail for one of two reasons: rock laid over topsoil, or water with nowhere to go. We fix both, and build new drives so they never start.

Driveway Installation around Princeton
We install gravel driveways for new homes and shops, build and rebuild farm lanes, set culverts, and repair drives that have gone soft or rutted.
James runs the machines from the yard in Ohio, close to town. That makes Bureau County jobs of every size practical, from a long new drive to a single bad stretch of lane.
Princeton is the Bureau County seat, so the county offices you may need are right in town.
Read the gravel driveway page for how we build a drive. Call (815) 240-9065 to talk about yours.

Driveway Installation in Princeton: what to know
Drives onto busy roads
US 6, US 34 and IL 26 all run through Princeton, and I-80 passes along the north side. A new entrance onto a state highway needs an Illinois Department of Transportation access permit.
For a county or township road, call the Bureau County highway department or the township road commissioner about the entrance and the culvert. Inside city limits, ask the City of Princeton. Confirm what applies before work starts.
Farm lanes that carry real weight
A lane that sees grain trucks, tractors and wagons needs more base than a house drive. If it gets soft every spring, the base is too thin or water is getting under it.
We strip the lane down, build the base back up, set or replace culverts, and crown it so water sheds to the ditches. Then we surface it with stone that suits the traffic.
A wider turn at the road and room to swing a wagon at the far end save a lot of rutting at the corners.
Repair or rebuild
A drive with a solid base and a few bad spots gets regraded and re-stoned. A drive that has lost its base needs the base rebuilt, or the same holes come back.
We tell you which one you have after looking at it. The gravel driveway repair guide explains the signs.
Pairing a drive with other work
A new drive often comes with other site work. Building pad grading, a pond on the back of the property, or clearing the route through trees.
Doing it in one trip saves moving equipment twice. If you are also thinking about water on the property, see our Princeton pond building page. For clearing, see land clearing around Princeton.

Do you build gravel driveways for new homes in Bureau County?
Yes. We cut in the route, strip the topsoil, build the base, set any culvert and surface the drive.
Who do I ask about a driveway entrance near Princeton?
IDOT for a state highway, the Bureau County highway department or township road commissioner for other rural roads, and the City of Princeton inside city limits.
Why does my Princeton farm lane get soft every spring?
Usually the base is too thin, or water is getting under the stone. Rebuilding the base and fixing the crown and ditches is the cure.
Do you plow gravel drives in winter around Tiskilwa and Wyanet?
Yes. We plow long rural drives and lanes in the winter. Ask about it when you call about the drive itself.
Can you fix a short stretch of bad driveway in Bureau County?
Yes. We are close by, so smaller repair jobs make sense here. Call (815) 240-9065 with photos.
