Rock Island, Illinois

Working in Rock Island

Two rivers and the bluffs between them shape the ground here. In town the lots are tight, but south and east toward Milan, Coal Valley and Andalusia the county opens into wooded ravines, creek bottoms and acreage properties with a back section nobody has been able to mow in years.

That is the work we get asked about most on this side of the Quad Cities: clearing overgrown slopes and lot lines, opening up building sites, and grading ground so water runs away from the house instead of toward it.

Rock Island is planned work rather than same-week work. It groups well with other jobs around Moline and Davenport, so call with the address and what you want done and we will tell you when the machines are headed that way.

Do you work year-round?

Yes. Mulching and clearing carry on through the colder months, and winter is often the better time for it — the ground is firm, there are no leaves in the way, and you can see what you’re working with. Snow plowing runs through the same season.

How long does a job take?

Small jobs — a fence row, an overgrown lot, a driveway regrade — are often a day or less. An acre of heavy, mature growth takes considerably longer than an acre of light brush. You’ll get a realistic time estimate along with the price, not an optimistic one.

Do I need to be there while the work is done?

Not usually. What matters is that the boundaries are clear and we agree beforehand on exactly what’s coming out and what’s staying. Marking anything you want left — a good tree, a well head, a buried line, a property pin — is time well spent.

What size jobs do you take?

Anything from a single overgrown lot up to multi-acre clearing and full site work. Smaller jobs closer to home are easy to fit in; smaller jobs at the far edge of the service area are best paired with other work in the same week.

How It Works

From First Call to Usable Ground

Call or Text

Call or text (815) 240-9065 or send the form. Roughly how many acres, what is growing and whether a truck and trailer can get in.

We Look at the Ground

James looks at the ground before he gives you a number, so the estimate fits the job in front of him.

The Work Gets Done

We agree on what comes out and what stays. Then the machines go to work, with James running them.

Ground You Can Use

You are left with ground you can walk, mow, build on or farm, and the topsoil stays where it belongs.
